Fox and Heron

Fable of the Fox and the Heron, as seen by PMG

Spring is springing and with it comes the delightful company of our very own Heron and Fox, bringing a touch of Aesop’s charm to life!

Unlike the two tricksters from the fable, our two garden friends have one thing in common… they love the beautiful warm sunlight on their faces in the season of renewal!

In Aesop’s famously penned fable, Fox invites the Heron to dinner but only provides a shallow plate of soup which the bird is unable to partake in because of its long beak. In retaliation, Heron invites Fox providing the food in a bottle with a long narrow neck: Fox is unable to share in the meal. The moral? ‘One bad turn deserves another’

However, here at PMG, we like to embrace the light and would prefer a slightly different moral to Aesop’s fable… how about,

“Every challenge presents an opportunity for growth and resilience”

Apparently herons symbolise tranquillity, serenity, elegance, and grace. The fox it is said, is all about trusting your instincts and intuition; both reminding us of self importance to our well-being. Remember, you are more resilient than you may think!
